The land of Pakistan

 Location

Pakistan is located in the continent of asia. On the globe, it lies between the latitude 24° N to 37° N and the longitude 61° E to 75° E. In the east, it share border with india, in the north with china, in the north_west with Afghanistan and its west with iran. The Arabian sea lies to the south of Pakistan Pakistan total area is 796096 sq. Kilometers out of this, nearly 58% consists of mountain and plateaus, while the rest is plains and deserts.

Pakistan hold an important position in the world. Oil rich countries of the Persian gulf are very close to her. Pakistan itself is quite rich in mineral and agricultural resources. It has four seasons, hence different varieties of crops are grown here. Our sea_shores remain suitable for shipping and fishing throughout the year.

Land features:

Land features mean the relief of land surface. Geologist divide the land features into three major forms:

A) Mountains B) Plateaus c) Plains

Mountain:

Karakorum Range

Karakorum mean "black stone". This name is given to it because black rocks are common here. Its average height is 6,100 meter above the sea_level. The world second highest peak K_2  is located here, which is 8610 meters (28,250 ft) above sea level. This peak is also called "Godwin austin". Temperature often remain below freezing point (0°c) due to immense height above the sea_level. Snowfall continues throughout the year. In this area including siachin, hesper, baltoro, batura and biafo.

Plateaus

Plateaus means an elevated surface. It is neither leveled like plains nor rugged like mountain. It is a semi_plain area, which rises sharply from the surrounding plain land or ocean. Generally, plateaus exist higher than 1000 meter above the sea_level. Pakistan has two plateaus:

Balochistan plateaus

This lies to the west of kirthar range with an area of 3,47,000 sq.km and its height is 600 to 3010 meter above sea_level. Know as chaghi_kharan desert. On the surface of hamoons, salt deposit can be found.

Potohar plateaus and salt range

These features lie to the south of northern mountain. Between indus and Jhelum river. The extent of potohar plateaus is about 18,000sq. Kilometers. Numerous ditches formed by the rainwater across its surface. Height of plateaus is 300 to 609 meters. The hill of kala_chitta and Khaeri Murat are located having 1,000 meters average height above the sea_level.

SALT RANGE

Its average height is 750 to 900 meter the heights peak is "sakesar" which is 1,527 meter above the sea_ level.

 PLAINS:

There are two vast fertile plain in Pakistan: indus plain, and lasbela Plain.

Indus plain

This vast and economically most significant region of Pakistan starts from kalabagh and ends at the Arabian sea. On the basis of tributary and distributary steam.

Lasbela Plain

This plain formed by river porali. Besides, it has been greatly affected by the erosional and depositional work of sea waves.its located in southern Balochistan along its boundary with sindh. Main town of this plain are Lasbela, Uthal, Vindar, and Hub.

RAINFALL SEASONS:

Pakistan has dry climate. The month_wise distribution of rainfall is also uneven. At time drought prevails for several years, while at others heavy rains cause floods in the plain areas. That is why our agriculture depends upon irrigation.

Monsoon Season

The winds which changes direction between land sea with the change in season are called "Monsoon Winds". In (june to September).

FORESTS:

Forest play a significant role in the economic development of a country. Expert suggest that a country must have 20_25% of its total area under forest. But in Pakistan, forest cover only 4.2 million hectares, which became 4.8% of the country total area. Forest prevent land erosion caused by the fast following streams in the mountainous areas and thus help increase the life_span of dams.
